rumours, is staying in Paris, and has been inter- -
viewed. She declares that the marriage between
V the Prince and her daughter is certain to take place,
'oth the King and Queen of Roumania being

THE QUEEN.

BALMORAL, FRIDAY.

The Queen drove out yesterday morning, attended by
the Hon. Harriet Phipps.

Her Majesty the Queen of Roumania arrived at the '
Castle.

The suite in attendance consisted of Madlle. Helene
Vacareeeo, Madlle. Miha’ilesco, Madlle. Zoe Davila, and. M.
R. Schefier.

Major the Hon. II. C. Legge was in attendance from
Aberdeen.

Her Majesty was met at Ballater by their Royal High-
nerses the Prime of \Vaies, who was attended by Colonel
Stanley Clarke and Rear-Admiral Stephenson, the Duke of
Clarence and Avondale, Prince and Princess Henry of
Battenberg, and the Duchess of Albany, with whom were
Princess Alice and the little Duke of Albany, who was
attended by Miss: Heron Maxwell and Sir Robert Collins.

A Guard of Honour of the Queen’s Own Cameron High-

‘ landers, under command of Captain Pierrepoint Brooke,

‘ was mounted at the station.

i The Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Louise

1 (Duchess of Fife), the Duke of Fife, Princess Victoria, and

‘ the Duke of Clarence and Avondalc visited the Queen and
remained to luncheon.

In the afternoon her Majesty drove out with the Queen
of Ruumania and Princess Beatrice.

The Duchess of Albany visited the Queen, and remained
to dinner.

In theevening a. torchlight procession was formed,which,
after pausing along the front of Craig Gowan, halted in
front of the Castle, where reels were danced.

Viscount Cross had the honour of being included in the
Royal dinner pan ty.

Madlle. Helene Vacnresco, Madlle. Miha‘flesco, Madlle.
Zoe Dnvile; and M. R. Schefier, in attendance on the
Queen of Roumania, had also the honour of being invited.

Miss Heron Maxwell dined at the Castle, and, together
with the Ladies and Gentlemen of the Household, had the
honour of joining the Royal Circle in the evening.

Signor Curtis’s hand was in attendance, and had the
honour of playing during and after dinner. /7 '
