My dear Sir:

Please God, I will be with you by Two o'clock,
or (if I call at Mr. Hatfield's) by % past at the latest.
I shall quit Highgate a quarter before One. The Dinner
Hour is therefore of no importance -= Nay, I should
prefer 5. -~ I thank you for the Pens -- tho' I am sure,
that you receive the most acceptable remuneration in
the knowledge, that I had had health, and grace to employ
them to the full extent of the powers, that have been
entrusted to me.

Of Ramsgate when we meet. I am uncertain
whether I shall be successful in persuading Mrs. Gillman
to accompany me tomorrow.

Sensations and brain images if they make ghosts, do not
frighten. Stepping down more steps than you expected
how it shakes.

Not so much the reappearance of the Spirit of Mrs. Veul,
as of Mrs. Veuls silk gown not so much the Duke of
Buckingham as the Duke of B--- breaches

Where a man will tell one lie for the lie's sake he will
tell 20 for the sake of the truth.

 

 Things coming under exactly the same definition must be the
same thing. Ghosts reflections, brain images and shadows
are all to be defined as visibility without tangibility.

People are not aware how much imagination and memory, assist
sight —~ goat indistinctly seen browsing on a distant
mountain, may be taken for various objects. But when the
right object is suggested it appears very plainly.

Quoted Ecclesiasticus where it is profoundly said that fear
is the absence of reason.

We are not able to remember the likeness of those whom we
love strongly. The moral impressions deaden the sensible ~~
Spoke of the disease called the Homesickness as occurring
when after a certain time of absence at last some predominant
aSpect of the many expressions or aspects of those we love,
become a clear image.
