Last year we oiled the streets of Burton and We
went to do the same this year.
I have discussed this with Mr. Fred Pack of Levisa
Stone Corporation. He advises they will bring their
distributor here to do the job sometime during the
Week of July 11.
He will either get in touch with you or me tWo or
three days before his distributor comes so that
whatever Work is necessary to have the streets in
proper condition to receive the oil can be done.
Last year we applied 1,000 gallons of oil which did
not do too good a job of allaying the dust so I
have advised Pack to supply 1,500 gallons this time.
Paul Curry supervised the application of the oil
‘ last year and I suggest you have him do the samethis
year.
You should write a confirming requisition to cover
the oil we are purchasing for this purpose.

After further consideration, I have decided we should
go ahead with the street and walk improvements we dis—
cussed yesterday while traveling about the town.
One of these projects is in connection with that sec:
tion of street along the group of houses opposite and
above No. 2 store.
The other project is the construction of a walk between
the pavement and creek extending from the colored church
to a point approximately opposite houses 21% and 215.
It might be well to consider doing this work through
some contractor rather than with your own forces. 7
The cost of these projects is to be charged to Deferred V
Charge 7 Enterprises _ Street Maintenance. As a matter
of convenience to designate this charge, you may use
the code DC-202 on all time sheets, material requisia
tions and invoices.

Dear Mr. Ford:
It would appear that before the steel strikQ is settled the
weather may be too bad to get into our side k project, or
we may chaose to defer it. If this is the : 9e, we will 9rob-
ably undertake it next spring.
However, there is the matter of the carpenter shop
building roof which has not yet a'en rrecte . I had intended
to ask you to take care of thir w Sou were in here on the
sidewalk job, but under the :‘r' T; as this probably will have
to be taken care of as a spe‘ a. . o‘ect.
Please let me know whe h h- dle this for us.

When estimating paving projects, you may use the figures
listed below for a close job cost figure.
Blacktop thickness, before rolled, weighs about 100 pounds
per inch thickness per square yard of surface.
Use the sum of $15.00 per ton for cost of materials, spread-
ing and rolling. Or, in other words, cost of material in
place.
