p l. Batter boards must be set firmly in the ground and
checked for accuracy in grade and square with an instrument.
Foundation must be within the following tolerances;

. Grade — 1/8” inch

Square - 1/4 inch
Fit and finish of house depends upon the accuracy of
the foundation. .
7 2. Footing for‘ourtain walls shall be concrete, 6
inches deep with 3 inch projection. Footing for all piers shall
be concrete at least 8 inches deep with 4 1/2 inch projection.
Chimney footing shall be 12 inches of concrete with 4 inch pro-

3. Wall shall be 8”x8”X16” blocks with top course
of holes filled with grout or brick with 8”X16” piers as shown
on drawing # C—333. Minimum distance from ground line to top
of curtain wall shall be 18 inches. .

tighten anchor bolt nuts with wrench. Do not pull tight enough
to loosen bolt from grout. Sills should then be checked (with
an instrument) for grade. Bring any low points to grade by use

2. Place panel X in position. Rat sill should
be even with foundation on the outside. Each end of panel should
be 3 5/8“ from corner of foundatidn. Drive one 20d-common nail
between each stud. Panel may then be held in position by one man
or by one diagonal brace, which ever is preferred. (Note: In
strong winds panel must be temorary braced regardless.

3. Place panel Z in position, and nail between
each stud. Plumb corner between X and Z and tie panels together
with connector S—lO. (Note: In plumbing corners is is advisable

- to use plumb—bob. .
4. Place panel W and treat as Z, V to W, Y to Z'
5. Place panel V & Y and tie. 8—3 connector

tion closet in approximate place that it is to be placed.

inside of rat sill is on line previously drawn. Nail in place
with one 16d common nail between each stud.

5. Allow one man to hold panel in place (or use
diagonal brace) and place K—l in position. (Note K—l overhangs
