I no: Mary ‘Ann August, 2,45, Tom
FROM: Gordon Brown House 102
I am enclosing a tracing which was taken from sheet 3 and sheet 5
of the Martin Plats of the City. It shows Elm St. and Houses
Nos. 98 - 99 — 102 — 104 and 195, also Garage G-20.
I have indicated on it in red a possible site for a 12-1/2 foot
easement from Elm St. across Lot 99 and the corner of the school prop-
erty to provide automobile access to Lot 102. This would be a right-
of—way only. That is to say, it would be a right to drive over a
12-1/2 foot strip of lot 99. This same strip could be used by-
anybody who wanted access to the school property or to Lot 99. The
fact that it comes within a couple of feet of the front porch of
lot 99 would not be an objection since there would be no fence or
other obstruction on that side of the right~of—way.
If you can work out a deal for the sale of House 102 at $7,500 we
will be glad to grant a right of way such as this, and will even fill,
if necessary, a ramp leading from ground level to the level of Elm St.
J If we can handle the matter this way we still leave all of the space J
between the north boundary of 104 and garage G—21 for access to the
school property, which can eventually become a valuable commercial
site with need for that much access. If we do this, House 99 would
of course be torn down. In the meantime we permit the house to stand ,
and even though it is merely a shell it may some day be advisable to
put it in shape for rent or sale. ,
I would hesitate very much to give an easement or right—ofoway which
went around the north side of house 99 and then across to lot 102.
This would effectively close future access to the school property
. except for a narrow space in front of G-20.
I appreciate that things which look easy on a flat piece of paper may
not be practical on sloping ground, but would like to have this idea
examined carefully to determine if it is practical.

(Form 68-10)

FROM: Gordon Brown House 102

I am enclosing a tracing which was taken from sheet 3 and sheet 5

of the Martin Plats of the City. It shows Elm St. and Houses

Nos. 98 — 99 — 102 - 104 and 195, also Garage G—ao.

I have indicated on it)in red a possible site for a l2—l/2 foot
easement from Elm St. across iot 99 and the corner of the school prop—
erty to provide automobile access to Lot 102. This would be a right~
of—way only. That is to say, it would be a right to drive over a

I 12-1/2 foot strip of lot 99. This same strip could be used by

anybody who wanted access to the school property or to Lot 99. The
fact that it comes within a couple of feet of the front porch of

lot 99 would not be an objection since there would be no fence or
other obstruction on that side of the right—of—way.

If you can work out a deal for the sale of House 102 at $7,500 we
will be glad to grant a right of way such as this, and will even fill,
if necessary, a ramp leading from ground level to the level of Elm St.
If we can handle the matter this way we still leave all of the space
between the north boundary of l04 and garage G—2l for access to the
school property, which can eventually become a valuable commercial
site with need for that much access. If we do this, House 99 would
of course be torn down. In the meantime we permit the house to stand
and even though it is merely a shell it may some day be advisable to
put it in shape for rent or sale.

I would hesitate very much to give an easement or right—of—way which
went around the north side of house 99 and then across to lot 102.
This would effectively close future access to the school property
except for a narrow space in front of G—20.

I appreciate that things which look easy on a flat piece of paper may
not be practical on sloping ground, but would like to have this idea
examined carefully to determine if it is practical.
