John Young called to say that the Rostmaster had signed the agreement
to purchase House No. 103, at the agreed price of $7,230.00 loss 5% for
cash. The cost on that house is $2,h65.00. This is.less than the SRA
appraised value of $8,500.00, but several factors influenced me to ap-
prove the sale. Included in these are the fact that Mr. Harris is the
Postmaster, and a leader in the community. His action in buying this
home will unquestionably have effect on others and influence them to
make sinfilar movos.
This is a two-story houso, and badly needs.a new roof and other repairs.
I thought it reasonable to make allowance for that. In addition, it
seems to me that it is an awfully good idea to have sales developing
constantly, as the word gets around that additional houses are being
purchased. If we sold 20 houses in one week and then no houses For
20 weeks, the situation would appear stagnated, although the some
amount of business would have been done.
Mr. Harris is getting his money from the First National Bank of Pikeville, _
who will issue a Credit Letter to us. I told John I saw no difference
in that procedure and an Escrow account at Prestonsburg, but that when
the money is paid over it should be deposited in the non-operating ac-
count at Prestonsburg and distribution made from that point in the
agreed percentages to Island Creek and to Mountain Investment, Inc. ‘
If the above is not proper procedure, please correct so that it will
be handled in a kosher manner.

Mr. John Allen, attorney, of Prestonsburg for his certifica-

papers to the bank in Pikevllle.
Your letter to the bank covering the release of this proper-
ty and the disbursement of funds should be in form similar
to those provided in other such cases.

running to James 0. Harris and Ruby C. Harrisz his wife,
Grantee(s).
Island Creek Coal Company will shortly deliver to you an executed
. release of this property from the mortgage held by it; also its
di sbursement letter.
Please collecttusfull amount of the purchase price of SEVEN
THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED THIRTY and 001100 Dollars,
and remit 80% thereof to Isiand Creek Coal Company, in accordance
with its disbursement letter above mentioned. In addition, please
collect from the purchaser the sum of $30.00 for the enclosed plat
of the property, and $38.50 closing costs.
Recording for the deed and the release is to be charged against
Mountain Investment's share of the proceeds of saie, as is the tax
due the State of Kvntucky.
The net proceeds due Mountain Investment, Inc. are to be deposited
in the non-operating account of Hountain Investment in your bank,
with advice to us showing all receipts and disbursements of the
transaction, accompanied by a duplicate deposit slip.
