The winter catalog of training opportunities for UK employees is
p now available. Courses include time management; setting goals and
objectives; interviewing, selecting and hiring new employees; conducting .‘
effective meetings; speed reading and comprehension; human relations in
A I the workplace; and decision making and problem solving. Enrollment for -
each workshop is limited to 25 participants. Approval of, or nomination
by the emp1oyee’s department head is required prior to enrollment. All
training programs sponsored by the University .of Kentucky Personnel
Division/Human ,Resource Development Department, are offered free of ·
charge to University employees. These programs are designed to provide
opportunities for employees to experience on-the—job growth and ·
` development, and to increase productivity and job satisfaction. The
catalog should be available in each department. If additional copies

STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The Staff ,Development Com ittee will sponsor a program on
developments in communications and how they will affect libraries. The
program will be held on Tuesday, February 16, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in the » V
Gallery in King North. The speaker will be Mr. Bahman Maghadam, General
Telephone's planning director for an eight-state area. The future of .
telecommunicatons is a fascinating topic, and the expected impact of the
changes on libraries should be interesting to us all. Please make a W
note on your calendar to attend. _

I said at the faculty meeting on 29 January that Kennedy's gives a
20% discount to full-time faculty. Well, I was misinformed -- it's only
