The Kernel Press inc. the non
profit corporation that publishes
the Kentucky Kernel. has three va—
cancies, two for students and one
tor a faculty member. on its board
of directors.

1 encourage all students and
taculty members who are inter-
ested in journalism education and
the role of the student newspaper
as a source of information to apply
for membership on the board

The corporate bylaws hold that
all students. faculty members and
administrators at the l'niversity oi
Kentucky are members of the cor-
poration However. only those cho
.sen to serve on the board may di
rect the Kernel l’i‘css's corporate
.‘iiiairs

Directors meet four times during
the academic year and are charged
with overseeing the corporation‘s
business operations and appointing
the editors of the newspaper's sum

mer and fall and spring editions.
Membership on the board also pro»
vides directors with an opportunity
to share ideas and comments about
the newspaper‘s editorial practices
with the editor-inchiei,

Directors are not compensated
and serve a one-year term.

The board will accept applica
tions for directors between now
and the end of the fall semester.
