Collection Overview
- Biography / History
- Dr. William Mac Elliott (1873-1935) and Margaret Snoddy Elliott (1874-1949) lived in central Kentucky. They were the parents of Margaret Jewell, nee Elliott (1905-1984) who also spent her life in central Kentucky. Margaret Jewell and Robert Berry Jewell (1896-1986) were the parents of Frances Jewell Hammond (1938-present).
- Scope and Content
- The Elliot family papers (dated 1894-1899; 0.68 cubic feet; 2 boxes) comprise the handwritten recipes, newspaper clippings, cookery, and cookbooks collected and used by the Elliott family of central Kentucky. Several of the books contain recipes pasted into other books, including a note book and a Central University of Kentucky course catalog from 1896.
