Valentine receives letters from a niece in Pennsylvania, she discusses daily life with her brother and mother, getting married, trying to buy a home with her husband, asking for a loan, and personal health. Friends in Germany write to Valentine and due to being written in Kurrenschrift, they are not translated. Other letters discuss finding employment, personal health, making charitable donations, supporting wards, daily life, his marriage, and business endeavors.
