    At a called meeting of the Executive Committee of State

University held at the Phoenix Hotel, August 14, 1911, there

were present Messrs. Clay, Nichols and Terrell of the Committee,

and President Barker and the Comptroller.

    The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

    On motion made, seconded and unanimously carried and upon the

recommendation of the special committee appointed for that pur-

pose, Miss Mary G. Fisher was selected as matron of Patterson

Hall; services to begin September 1, 1911.

    Upon motion it was ordered that the salary for the past

month not paid be settled with rirs. Caroline Wallis.

    Upon motion made and seconded the President and Business

Agent of the University were ordered to audit the accounts

at patterson Hall and to take inventory of all property in

use at such Hall.

    At this point Miss Lowry appeared before the Committee and

asked for the position of teacher in Drawing at the State

University. The matter was left with President Barker to make

contract with her for that purpose, salary not to exceed $50.00o.

    An account was presented belonging to the General Electric

Company and the same referred to the Business Agent with di-

rectidn to make investigation and settle same if it is a Uni-

versity obligation.

    A bill was presented by President Emeritus James K. Pat-

terson for books end other items for the library amounting to

$557.64 and the same was ordered paid and charged to the library

account.

    A requisition for articles wanted by the Mechanical and

Electrical Engineering College; was presented and same referred




 





to President Barker with direction to allow such as he thought

proper.

    On motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, Prof. W.VJ.H

Mustaine was made director of Athletics and Physical Education

for men, the duties of such position to 'e prescribed by the

Athletic Committee.

    Mr. Thomas Frederick Hudgins, who is Instructor in Electri-

cal 'engineering, asked for en additional raise in his salary

of 100.00 and the same was refeyrred to President Barker with

power to act.

    Upon motion made and seconded the President and Business Agent

of the University were directed to ask forbids and to purchase

such beds and tables as may be necessary to aspply students who

are appointees for the coming year.

           on roll-call the vote stood:

           Ayes - Messrs. Nichols, Clay and Terrell.
           Noes - None.

           Motion carried.

    Upon motion made and seconded the President and Business

Agent of the University were directed to ask for bids and to

put in a floor of strAight leaf yellow pine in the main hall-

way of the Administration Building.

    On roll call the vote stood:

    Ayes - Messrs.Nichols, CMay and Terrell.
    Noes - None.

    Motion carried.

    Coal bids were received and turned over to Messrs. Nichols

and Davies, who were heretofore empowered to closE a contract

for the necessary coal four the next school year.

    Upon motion made and seconded Mr. C. B. Nichols and the

BusinessAgent were empowered to settle with the teachers in




 







with the teachers in the Summer School, to use their best

judgement in the settlement and to report at the next meeting

of this committee.

    T~he matter of employment of a director for the Y. M. C. A.

and the question of putting hot water in the boys' dormitories

and also as to the selection of a legislative Committee by the

President were postponed until thenext meeting of the Executive

Committee.

    Upon motion made and seconded the meeting adjourned.
