- Editor, attorney, judge, state senator, consul-general to Samoa, and orator James Hillary Mulligan was born in Lexington, Kentucky on 21 November 1844, son of businessman Dennis Mulligan. His home, Maxwell Place, is now the official residence of the president of the University of Kentucky.

Mulligan "In Kentucky" broadside (dated circa 1902; 0.01 cubic feet; 1 item) was written by Mulligan for a banquet for the members of the Kentucky legislature held February 11, 1902, at the Phoenix Hotel in Lexington, Kentucky. This broadside was printed by Wrenn and King in Lexington, Kentucky.
