Torah Study and Shabbat morning worship has started well. Once-a— month we gather in the library, dis— cuss the weekly sidre (portion) and then hold a worship service. A pleasant and soothing way to begin a Shabbat day. This is only a touch of our newness. As long as programs are supported, they will run. When the alternative occurs then we will find other new ideas to replace the old. Last year we attended the first re— ltreat, which was held at Natural Bridge State Park. As new members oi the gcongregation. we thought it would be a nice opportunity to meet new people and «t l i, S S S S spend some quiet time away from day—to-day concerns in Lexington. We went no knowing what to expect. To our delight. we met friendly and interesting poop Over the course of the two days. we had the opportunity to discuss topics or concern to all of us: change within ourselves. within the ‘ongregation and within Judaism. We also had time to sociali/e with other p rticipints. as wtll as enjoy quiet walks around Natural Bridge. We agreed it was time well spent. and we look forward to future retreats. A second retreat is scheduled for March 28 and 29 at RWLlOT State Park. This year, discussions will focus on personal communication style and methods of expressing our Jewishness. We and the other retreat or ani7ers :hose these topics because they are of deep interest to us. and we hoped they would be of interest to others of you as well. As was true last year. the retreat will :lso allow participan s the opportunity to make some new friends. as well is estipe from the city and enjoy some of Kentucky's most beautiiul scenery.
