_lay 'l‘. McCoy, former assistant dean of students and adviser to L'K's
social fraternities, will spend the next four weekends lodged in the
Fayette County Detention Center, Circuitjudgelohn Adams ruled liri-
day. . \
McCoy, who pled guilty to three counts of possession of a forging
instrument in january, will also spend two years on probation and per—
form 200 hours of community service the next two years for embezzling
about $15,000 from an lnterfraternity Council l’.\'(I bank account —
‘51 1,000 in checks to hitnselfand $3,999 in unauthorized payments.

He has also paid the court—ordered restitution ofSTfiQ-i.

The Fayette County Commonwealth‘s attorney agreed, with
McCoy's guilty plea, to drop the other 17 counts against hitn, but did
recommend he serve a year for each ofthe guilty counts.

During Friday's sentencing, McCoy's attorney Denise Davidson
asked Adams to consider probation instead of a prison sentence and
submitted letters written on McCoy's behalfwith the same request.

Davidson said the proceedings McCoy has gone through have taught

said McCoy has much to offer the community.

McCoy also asked Adams to consider the probated sentence.

“This is very much out of my character," McCov said during the sen—
tencing. '

“\Vhat I've done is wrong. Up to this, l had a very good job and a
promising career in higher education."

McCoy said he has begun to contact “those who l hurt and who l
