SHIPPING FACILITIES
Being located on the principal line of the L. and N'. R. R., we enjoy the benefits of the lowest rates on
grain and grain products, and a private switch extending the full length of property atlhrds excellent facili-
ties for unloading grain and coal, and loading grain products of all kinds. Ilrayage is done away with and
a large item of expense eliminated. ,
INSURANCE AND TAXES

Gentlemen:-
We have your letter of yesterday asking, can we give you any infor-
mation regarding Kosmos Portland Cement, wheather it ranks with the other well
known American brands. In reply permit us to say that so far as we are infor-
med, little or no cement of this brand has been placed upon the market.
The mill from which it is to be sent out is located within 20 miles
of this city, near the Ohio River west of Louisville. It has been our privelege
to furnish a large amount of material which has gone into the construction of
the plant and we have been in occasional communication with the proprimors for
& long time past. Our information is that up to the present time they are not
prepared to make shipments. We have been told that they have met with disap-
pointing delays in turningout a satisfactory product.

We have been informed of their aekéng contracts,with the assurance
that their cement should be equal to other well known brands. Up to this time
we do not think a barrel of their cement has been shipped to this city and we
_ have assurances from them that when ready to furnish cement they will see us
regarding the sale of same in this market. This is as far as we can answer
. your inquiry.
Pardon us now please if we make an inquiry of you. Would you like
a reasonable figure from us on a supply of Portland for the building you speak
Of? We made a very favorable purchase some months ago of a considerable
quantity of a brand of Portland which we have handled largely, and find to be
of superior quality and we might be able to make you as good or better figures
than you will get elsewhere for goods of like qualityand of such character as
will be required for the Elevator Building .
