Collection Overview

Biography / History
William E. Spier (d. 1901) was a standardbred horse breeder and the owner of Suburban Stock Farm in Glens Falls, New York. Additionally, Spier was the Treasurer of the International Paper company located at 30 Broad Street in New York City.
Scope and Content
The William E. Spier letters include sale and breeding records, race nominations, and correspondence sent to Spier from Kentucky horsemen. Much of the correspondence came from B. J. Treacy of the Ashland Park Stock Farm, R.S. Strader, John E. Madden, S. W. Wheelock, Ed. A. Tipton, D. T. Baxter, P. P. Johnson, Mike Bowerman, Henry Clay McDowell, W. H. Dickinson, Frank Kenney, and W.W. Estill.
