- Reverand Jeremiah Strother (1802-1878) of Trimble County, Kentucky, was a Methodist preacher, who served as Kentucky State Representative during the early 1830s.
- Scope and Content
- The Jeremiah Strother papers (dated 1829-1851, undated; 0.23 cubic feet; 1 box and 1 folder) consist of correspondence, a carte-de-visite, a broadside, and a commission in the Kentucky Militia, which document the career and life of the Kentucky Congressman and Methodist preacher. Reverend Jeremiah Strother (1802-1878) of Trimble County, Kentucky. The correspondece concerns his work as a Methodist preacher, including descriptions of prayer meetings, as well as local Kentucky politics during the time he served in the legislature during the early 1830s. The papers also contain a commision confirming him as the major of the of the 21st Kentucky Militia Brigade and a broadside of a bill to establish an agricultural bank in Kentucky.
