- ". . . still werking [sic] at the block house and I think we will be wirking [sic] at it for some time. . . I wish that you were here with us for we have all of the fun that we want and we have all kind of fresh meat to eat for every farmer has a bout 60 sheep and a bout the same of hogs. . . when ever we want eneything [sic] we gow [sic] and take it and huney [sic] there is no end to it . . . there was a barl [sic] of molasses [from a farmer]. . .we beat him and we got the molasses. . . I dont now [sic] that I will tell you eney [sic] thing more about our stealing. . .wer [sic] all out of the tent the other day and one tent seat fell and burnt every thing that we had. . ." Letter written on illustrated stationery depicting the Battle of Mill Springs (January 9, 1862).
