Dr. Fred W. Rankin
Lexington
, ·Kentucky -
Dear Doctor: A
‘ Of course you know I am delighted to learn
that you have been elected President of American Medical
Association. I consider that this is one of the greatest
honors that could come to a surgeon, and Kentucky is
really outstanding to have two presidents of the Asso-
ciatlon within the past few years, one of whom was a
cousin of mine and the other I know quite well because
he insisted on carving on me. You see, Fred, I am now
in position to go around bragging on the fact that the
_ President of all the doctors and surgeons in the United
States cut me open. I want to say in my own behalf that
I am one of the very few people who does not talk about
operations. Several people brag to me about theirs and
I don't say a thing.
Remember me to Mrs. Rankin and the children. I
With personal wishes, `
