A. Spurr, R. J. Spurr and P. P. Johnston issued Aug. 19, 1889. Present Gov. S. B. Buckner, Ex Officio ChIm. W. B. Kinkead R. J. Spurr R. A. Spurr Phil. Bird P. P. Johnston W. C. Ireland L. J. Bradford W. D. Nicholas Hart Gibson The Minutes of the last meeting having been read and approved the Sec'y. stated the substance of the call under which the Board convened viz: " to consider the propriety of modifying the orders of the Board made at the annual meeting in June 1889 in reference to providing additional dormitory accomodation for students and also to consider such other matters of importance relating to the well-being of the College as the Executive Committee may submit." Judge Kinkead, Dr. Spurr and others stated the necessity for further lodging and boarding facilities for students especially those who matriculate in the Normal School. The following resolution was offered by Philemon Bird, Viz: That the Executive Committee be authorized to build an additional Dormitory Building for male students not to cost over $8,000. MIN{UTES OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, Sept. 3, 1889 - page 90 The Treasurer having been asked the condition of the finances reported a balance on hand of $12,000 with bills paid to date, and the annual income as about $45,000 from all sources. ( The estimate of income too high by $5,000). After some discussion on the resolution of Philemon Bird, Judge Ireland offered the following substitute viz: That the Executive Committee be authorized to provide additional boarding accomodations for students male or female either upon the college grounds or elsewhere to the extent of $12,000. The substitute being seconded by L. J. Bradford was adopted by the following vote Viz: Ayes W. B. Kinkead R. J. Spurr R. A. Spurr W. C. Ireland L. J. Bradford P. P.
