Collection Overview

Biography / History
The manuscript was begun by Albert Predeek of Germany who died in 1956. The editor Dr. Leyh wanted the manuscript finished and Lawrence Thompson was asked to complete the book. Mrs. Predeek sent the manuscript and notes of her husband to Mr. Thompson who then worked on and completed the book. The book is written in German and published in Germany. Lawrence Sidney Thompson was the Director of Libraries at the University of Ketucky from 1948-1965.

The Albert Predeek manuscript, History of Libraries in the USA contains two manuscript drafts written by Predeek, a final draft, notes, and the correspondence of Lawerence S. Thompson dealing with his work on the unfinished manuscript.
