- Biography / History
- Billy Curtis Clark (December 19, 1928–March 15, 2009) was born at Cattlesburg, Kentucky, where the Big Sandy River empties into the Ohio River. After he finished his military service in the Far East in 1948, he studied for three years at the University of Kentucky, where he won awards in creative writing. Clark is the author of a collection of four short stories. His published fiction includes Lucy Caught the Moon (1956), Song of the River (1957), The Trail of the Hunter's Horn (1958), Mooneyard Hound (1959), Useless Dog (1961), Goodbye Kate (1964), The Champion of Sourwood (1966) and Sourwood Takes (1968). He also published a biography of the Clark family, A Long Row to Hoe, in 1960. Clark continued to write and publish works throughout his life. Clark died at his home in Virginia in 2009.

- The Billy C. Clark papers (1956-1968; 1 box; 0.45 cubic feet) consist of biographical clippings, book reviews, and manuscripts for works by Appalachian author, Billy C. Clark. The manuscripts include monographs, short stories, poems, and articles by Clark.
