- Biography / History
- The church was established in 1784 with the Rev. Adam Rankin as its pastor. In 1794, a school, known as the Kentucky Academy, was created at the church site. This institution was united with Transylvania Seminary in 1798 to form Transylvania University. The church has continued to flourish up to the present time.
- Scope and Content
- These are microfilmed copies of the account books, minutes, registers, membership rolls, and other miscellaneous materials of the Pisgah Presbyterian Church and its subsidiary, the Pisgah Bible Society. The records consist of a record book (1817-1836, 1853-1855) for the Pisgah Bible Society; for the Pisgah Presbyterian Church, account books (1848, 1853-1855); records of the session (1808-1939); minutes of the session (1884-1965); minutes of the congregational meetings (1920-1964); church registers (1892-1965); and miscellaneous surveys, church rolls, subscriber lists, and insurance records.
