Clinton M. Harbison was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He graduated from Kentucky (Transylvania) University in 1906 and studied law at Harvard University. He was a partner in the Lexington law firm of Harbison, Kessinger, Lisle, and Bush. He served on the Transylvania University Board of Curators for fifty years.
