Collection Overview

Biography / History
Bradley Picklesimer, from eastern Kentucky, opened Club au Go Go on Winchester Road, in 1980, a bar welcoming of the Lexington gay/lesbian and underground music scenes. By the mid-1980's he opened his second bar on Main Street in downtown Lexington, Cafe LMNOP. The bar fostered an underground community in Lexington by hosting drag shows and new wave/punk music bands. Cafe LMNOP closed by the early 1990s.
Manjushri V Bhapkar took photographs of queer friendly and other groups participating in or watching the Lexington Fourth of July Parade. They also took pictures of drag shows at Cafe LMNOP.
