Collection Overview

Scope and Content
Arthur Rackham remains one of the most celebrated British illustrators of children's books. This collection, gift of George T. McWhorter, includes limited, signed editions, trade editions and illustrations in magazines, original watercolors and drawings, and autograph letters. Original drawings include twelve pen and ink drawings for "French Without Tears" for Pall Mall Budget (1892), sketches for bookplates, and "Gulliver Kisses the Queen's Hand" for Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels (1909). An original watercolor for Grimm's Little Brother and Little Sister (1917) is currently on exhibition at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
