Subsequently he was less active in the campaigns of Al Smith and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

The political correspondence of Samuel Mackay Wilson and his wife Mary Shelby Wilson comprise the manuscript portion of this collection. Much of this is concerned with Wilson's role as state Democratic campaign chairman in the presidential election of 1924. Many of the papers of Mrs. Wilson are included, notably those concerned with women's political groups. The collection also includes pamphlets, clippings, reports, circulars, and campaign memorabilia.
