Scope and Content
The Illinois boy autograph book (dated 1881-1884; 0.03 cubic feet; 1 folder) comprises a single autograph album belonging to a young boy from Illinois at the end of the nineteenth century. This autograph album features a dark blue hardback cover, an image of a bird and plants in gold detail on the front and multiple detailed scenery drawings within its pages. The scenery comprises of various places in North America and are either in color or black and white. Only a few pages have any writing on them, one being a poem from the young boy's mother and signatures from friends at school. The lack of autographs is made up for with the detailed and beautiful scenery drawings inside.
The Illinois boy autograph album collection is part of the Wade Hall Collection of American letters, which includes correspondence and diaries from all over North America covering the time period of the Civil to Korean Wars. The materials were collected by Wade Hall and document everyday men and women.
