Collection Overview

Biography / History
Journalist Henry Watterson (1840-1921) founded and edited the Louisville Courier-Journal. During his tenure as editor, Watterson was a Democratic representative in Congress from 1876 to 1877, and a five-time delegate to the National Democratic Convention. He also served part of one term in the United States House of Representatives.
Charles Anderson Dana (1819-1897) was a prominent journalist and a part owner of the New York Sun.

The collection consists of a letter of recommendation for journalist Richard Wright from Henry Watterson to Charles Dana.
