Collection Overview

Scope and Content
This collection of fine art nature photographs includes works by nationally known photographers such as Dick Arentz, Barbara Bosworth, Christopher Burkett, Sandra De Sando, David Graham, Lynn Geesaman, Frank Hunter, Richard Lohman, Nancy Lloyd, and Ray Metzker. The photographs represent work accomplished during periods as artists in residence at the Isaac W. Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest in Claremont, Kentucky, near Louisville. The artist-in-residence grants, established in 1983 by the Bernheim Foundation, are awarded each year. The competitive grants were initially reserved for photographers, but have been opened to include other artists. The photographs produced by the photographers while in residence at the forest are on permanent loan to the Photographic Archives.
