Biography / History
The principal responsibility of the Dean of Students at Transylvania University has been the coordination of offices and programs directly related to non-academic activities of students and student organizations.
Scope and Content
This collection is comprised primarily of reports, correspondence, and student counseling materials from Transylvania University's Dean of Students. Materials include reports of Deans of Students, Men and Women, to the university president (1939-1955); fragmentary correspondence, most of which concerns the university library (1931-1980); records relating to work-study and other student aid programs (1940-1950s); and records from the Director of Counseling's office (1948-1969). Also included is information on scholarships including the Thomas Jefferson Scholars Program which was later renamed the William T. Young Scholars Program. Unpublished catalog of holdings.
