Scope and Content
The United States military unit publications (dated 1942-1947, undated; 0.12 cubic feet; 11 folders) comprises newsletters, menus, missals, newspapers, and dailies that document life in various military units during and post-World War II. Newsletters, newspapers, and dailies show life in military units in the Pacific, stateside, and on ships; updates from home, information from headquarters and leading military personnel, jokes about activities within the units, and comic strips. Menus are for formal dinners, namely Thanksgiving, and Missals are for church services hosted by units or military Chaplains. The publications come from various units across many branches, including the Seabees, Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, Coast Artillery Corps, Navy, Army, and Air Force.
The United States military unit publications collection is part of the Wade Hall Collection of American Letters, which includes correspondence and diaries from all over North America covering the time period of the Civil to Korean Wars. The materials were collected by Wade Hall and document everyday men and women.
