Collection Overview

Biography / History
The Business Development Corporation of Kentucky held a charter meeting in September 1960. The board of directors for the Kentucky Spindletop Research Center and Park, dedicated to industrial research, held the group's initial meeting in July 1960. The Research Center was in a partnership with the University of Kentucky, the state government, and private industry. The facilities were located at Spindletop Farm in north Lexington, Kentucky. The University of Kentucky had acquired Spindletop Farm and the accompanying mansion from Mrs. Miles F. Yount in 1959.
Scope and Content
The Kentucky Department of Economic Development records contain programs, brochures, and advertisements relating to the economic and industrial development in Kentucky in 1960. The material in the Kentucky industrial economic advertisements was part of a nationwide promotion campaign. Topics for the advertisements include Kentucky as an industrial distribution center, the state's water, coal, and natural gas resources, and various growing industries in Kentucky.
