Project #1201 District 6: Utilizing old brick in reconstructing city streets. WPA Project #1201, which is the reconstruction of brick streets in the 7th Ward of the City of Louisville, includes the removal of 42,493 square yards of old brick streets and cushion, crushing and reusing the old crushed brick as a coarse aggregate in a 4-inch concrete pavement to be laid over the existing concrete base. Compacting and striking off crushed brick before applying cement grout. Photographed February 4, 1936
